Success Story
The Gandhian studies center was established in 1999 at Department of History, Bhavnagar University, Bhavnagar. This center was sanctioned during the 9th Five Year Plan. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was a student of Shamaldas Arts College, Bhavnagar in the year 1888. In the initial stage center received 3,30,00 for recurring and non-recurring grants. This center has focused on the several aspect of Gandhian philosophy to inculcate amongst the students of the University. During the 2000 to 2006 the center has organized various programs to spread the Gandhian thoughts and culture amongst the students of the university.
In this period notable speakers like Vatern Gandhian philosopher Shri Manubhai Pancholi, Mr. Nagindas Sanghvi, Mr. Prakashbhai Shah, Mr. Kanubhai Jani, Mr. Gunvant Shah, Mr. Sannat Mehta, Mr. Kumar Pal Desai and Mr. Tushar Gandhi (Great Grand Son of Gandhiji) has delivered lectures pertaining to Gandhian philosophy at Bhavnagar University.
Looking to the various activities of the center, University Grant Commission was pleased to extend its support in the 10th Five Yeas Plan and sanctioned Rs. 4,70,000 for further implementation of various schemes related to Gandhian Philosophy.
